If you've found a new house that you're going to move into, you'll need to start getting your current home ready to sell and put on real estate listings. This means preparing it to look as good as possible to potential buyers and making some upgrades so that they are not scared off by some small cosmetic issues. If you're not looking to spend a lot of cash, it means making some small updates that are effective and affordable. Here are three things that you could do to spruce up your home.

Add Frames To Plain Mirrors

Does your bathroom look like it needs a bit of an update, but not quite to the point where you need to rip out the existing cabinets and fixtures to start over? If so, consider adding a wood frame to that plain bathroom mirror you have on the wall. It will be one of the first things a potential buyer notices when they walk into a bathroom, and having some new woodwork will make the bathroom look nice and cared for.

Doing this upgrade can be done on your own if you know how to use a chop saw, and it will be a very easy improvement that will be immediately noticeable during showings.

Install New Light Fixtures

Potential buyers look at everything when they walk through a home, including your light fixtures. The ones that you have may look worn out and dated, making them a prime candidate for an upgrade. Thankfully, swapping out a light fixture is another cheap upgrade that any homeowner can do if they follow the basic directions provided with the light fixture.

Consider upgrading the light fixtures in your rooms to ceiling fans while you're at it. They typically go on clearance during the winter, making it easy to pick up a few ceiling fans for cheap. The wider base of the ceiling fan also means that it will hide any holes left in the ceiling left behind from the previous light fixture.

Fix Your Front Door

Your home's front door most likely sees a lot of wear and tear over the years, and it's in need of some improvement. If it is still very sturdy, fresh paint in an accent color can make it stand out in a positive way. If it needs replacement, now is the time to upgrade the basic front door to one that looks fancy.
